Creative Writing

Last week in Te Ngahere we were doing creative writing The WALT was to use metaphors, onomatopoeia, similes or an alliteration. I used metaphors, I think I did well on using metaphors correctly and I could improve on extending my stories to make them longer. I enjoyed being able write whatever we wanted  and I hope we can do it again. 200200

Visual Mihi

This week in Te Ngahere we made a visual mihi. We did this by making a google drawing, and then putting pictures on it. These pictures resembled our translated morning mihi, they pictures remind us of what the mihi means and helps us remember. I chose each image because it represents things in the mihi. Like the first picture is a bellbird because that is the first thing in the mihi!

Term 4 Maths Goals

Last week in Te Ngahere, we were learning to discover our next learning steps in maths. The first thing we had to do was find maths strategies we struggled with, then we put them on a google drawing. We were allowed to choose 3 goals. I chose my goals because I want to extend my knowledge of maths strategies, and be above the national standard. Here is mine . . .

William Pike

Last week in Te Ngahere we all learnt about William Pike. We researched information about him and found out how he relates to a story we read earlier on called the rep. Also, we watched a live stream if William Pike. He was talking about his trip in Antarctica. It was really interesting to learn about his trip and all the different things he saw. William Pike even climbed up Mount Scott! That is very high. William Pike was a fun person to research and we all learnt a lot.

Shattering Breakthough

Last week in Te Ngahere for reading, my group answered a variety of questions for a story called ‘A Shattering Breakthrough.’ The story was about the development of safety glass. After reading the story we answered some comprehension questions about the story. The questions were really challenging but in the end we were able to work them out.

4 Shot Movie

Last week, Te Ngahere we made 4 shot mini movies. A 4 shot movie is a mini movie with all four shots, which are: Establishing shot, long shot, medium shot and close up. We were in groups of 4 or 5 and made a storyboard for our mini movie. My groups story was about caring and looking out for our friends. It was a good opportunity to learn how to work as a team and it was also really enjoyable. Movie
